Happy Freebie day! I’m giving away a Marvelous Designer fabric properties preset for soft skirts, dresses, capes, and sleeves!
This fabric physical property preset creates soft hanging fabric (as used for this dress’s skirt and sleeves) that holds its shape.
You can use this preset for many Marvelous Designer clothes including capes, skirts, dresses, sleeves, thin satin curtains etc.
This fabric preset is great for any type of cloth or clothing with a lot of fabric which you want to drape in a smooth, flowing manner.
The fabric physical properties are set to make the cloth keep its shape with enough stiffness to create those nice wrinkles where the fabric is gathered.
You can use this free fabric properties preset for learning purposes and for all your personal and commercial MD projects.
You can import this physical property preset into any Marvelous Designer project and assign it to any fabric and garment part(s).

What are Marvelous Designer fabric properties?
Fabric physical properties are settings which control how cloth drapes, hangs, simulates, and moves during animation in Marvelous Designer. Just like in the real-world where clothes are made of different kinds of fabrics (cotton, leather, spandex), your 3D garments need to have realistic fabric settings as well.
If the fabric physical property settings are too stiff, the fabric bloats up like a strange balloon, fine wrinkles vanish, the fabric doesn’t bend and explodes in certain poses, or just looks strange in general.
If the physical property settings are too soft, the fabric loses its shape and drapes strangely, looking like a stretched out old cloth.
If the buckling/bending settings are wrong, even clothes with a lot of gathered fabric could lose all their wrinkles.

What is the difference between fabric presets and fabric physical property presets?
There is a slight difference between Marvelous Designer fabric presets and fabric physical property presets. A fabric preset contains the physical property settings as well as the texture settings, color, opacity, normal map etc. which you applied to your fabric (for example: a stripy pink cotton fabric).
A Marvelous Designer physical property preset only contains the physical property settings which tell the fabric how to hang and simulation (for example: a cotton fabric without the pink stripy texture).
